Overview
The Great Sahara Camel Trek is the perfect way to experience the real Sahara. You will trek through the stunning landscapes of the desert; kasbahs, palm groves, and dunes, crossing stoney desert, mountains, and agricultural land. Watch desert wildlife in their habitat, gazelles, camels, and wild donkeys, as you pass nomadic shepherds and fertile landscapes. Discover ancient desert sites, mausoleums, abandoned souks and former desert villages. You may even find old artefacts from ancient travellers.
Camp is set up in sheltered dunes, where you will eat dinner round the campfire, under the stars. Breakfast and lunch will be enjoyed under shaded tamaris trees. This immersion tour will leave you feeling rejuvenated and revitalised and in awe of the stunning Sahara Desert.
What you’ll do
Arrive at your eco-lodge in the afternoon. Enjoy a Saharan welcome tea. Explore the village at leisure before dinner round the campfire and overnight.
After a leisurely breakfast, join your camel caravan and guides to trek north past the old Kasbahs of M’Hamid and the Palm Grove of Ras N’Khal. Set up camp in the golden dunes of the Sahara.
Breakfast. Decamp. Trek stoney desert and stunning landscapes to Ait Ounir. Set up camp in the shade of a Tamarisk and admire the stunning night sky.
Breakfast. Decamp. Trek to the remote dunes of Erg Zahar and discover hidden gems of the Sahara, ancient shrines and abandoned villages. Set up camp in the singing dunes, so called for their gentle humming sound. Dinner round the campfire.
Breakfast. Decamp. Trek to the less visited dunes of Erg Zmila. The sprawling dunes are famous for eucalyptus trees and gazelles. Set up camp in the stunning dunes and relax under a Tamarisk tree before dinner under the stars.
Breakfast. Decamp. Trek to the breath-taking white dunes of Lahniche and admire the ever-changing colours and landscapes of the Sahara. Pass flocks of camels, wild donkeys, and nomadic habitats before setting up camp in the shelter of the dunes.
Breakfast. Decamp and enjoy a final desert sunrise before returning to M’Hamid mid-morning. Say good-bye to your guides and camels. Then freshen up, to enjoy a farewell tea before departure.

2) Reserve your tour by email. Any discounts will be applied at the time of booking.
3) Receive a confirmation email with tour details, travel information and amount due. Pay for your tour on arrival in Euros or Moroccan Dirhams.
4) Private Transport to/from M’Hamid can also be booked via our website.

The main desert season is October to May and our tours operate every day on a date to suit you. Simply select the date you want when booking.
We also operate tours outside of the main season, please email us with your request.
All our tours are all inclusive from M’Hamid: this includes desert transport, camels, accommodation (bivouac or tents for camping), camping equipment and supplies, guides, chefs, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), water and refreshments.
Transfers to and from M’Hamid are not included and can be booked separately through us upon request. See transport.
